The NSLS membership actually pays for itself in about a year through insurance discounts and then it's a free org on my resume with the rest of their benefits. I see some people are skeptical about joining NSLS. I want to share my experience. There are 3 tiers to the program, and yes, you pay to be a part of each tier. One time I went to volunteer for this organization and they needed a letter of rec uploaded, and I didn't want to bother any of the professors for such a small thing so I just used the NSLS one. It worked, I got cleared to volunteer. I guess that probably the only good perk of joining, really. IDK up to you in the end if you think it's worth it ...
